Document Security Applications can be divided into two distinct categories, Centralised and Decentralised the latter better know as Point of Sale or Point of Issue Security.
Below you can see a graphical representation of the Centralised application where the document often starts life in the state security printing works where the entire security document is printed in one location, complete with it's OVD (security hologram) applied.
The finished secure document is then distributed to local level where it is stored before being issued to the end user.
The secure transport and storage adds cost and exposes to risk as it is handled and stored in multiple locations.
Decentralising the solution as seen below takes advantage of moving the application of the OVD to the issuing point which reduces the risk of transporting and storing live documents as they are not useable without the OVD being attached. Our MicroPOISE Point Of Issue Security Embosser is then used at the point of issue to secure the document at the last possible moment adding control and reducing risk.
